New Orleans, LA – Randy Fertel to Reign over krewedelusion, New Orleans, and Everything Else!

On February 4, 2012, at 7:15pm, krewedelusion, the Big Easy’s newest satirical parade, will roll once again through the streets of the Marigny & French Quarter.  The new Krewe was formed with the mission to save the Universe beginning at its center, New Orleans.

Oscar Diggs, Captain of the Krewe that the Times-Picayune claims, “is taking the time-honored conceit of Carnival royalty and following it to its most literal and absurd endpoint,” has announced today that Randy Fertel will be appointed to Rule over krewedelusion’s festivities, the City of New Orleans, and everything else. It will certainly be something other than politics as usual.

Son of “The Gorilla Man” mayoral candidate Rodney Fertel and Ruth’s Chris Steak House founder Ruth Fertel, philanthropist Randy Fertel is President of the Fertel Foundation, the Ruth U. Fertel Foundation, and soon will become the Ruler of krewedelusion’s Foundation.  All monies remaining after the parade shall be used at his discretion to fulfill the mission of the krewe. This past year, donations were made to Roots of Music, Artist, Inc. and The International School of Louisiana.

Upon learning of his appointment, the incumbent “King Guerrilla Gorilla & Captain of New Orleans” stated, “In New Orleans, delusion eternally has a special role in the Center of the Universe, and we, homo sapiens New Orleanianensis, shall plant the roots of a future wherein Guerrilla Gorillas shall occupy delusion and spearhead a return to Simian Values”.

Keeping its annual theme a secret until they hit the streets, krewedelusion is the groundbreaking organization in which a myriad of small upstart and existing parading clubs have grown their roots. If you ever wanted to found your own satirical innerkrewe, this is the organization in which to do it.

Krewedelusion uses only people powered floats, and in addition to hand decorated throws and traditional wooden nickels, this year and this year only, locally produced medallion “Teaser Beads” will be distributed to the crowds announcing the date of krewedelusion’s next super secret event.

Using no motorized floats, the people powered parade will disband into “The Night of Delusion” where the AllWays Lounge, Hi-Ho Lounge, Siberia and Kajun’s Pub will, for the very first time, join together and open their doors to the general public for a single $15.00 cover charge that will allow entry to all the venues.

 Bands that will be featured at these venues are: Honorable South, Margie Perez, Oops the Clown, Ratty Scurvics, Karaoke Madness, Guitar Lightning Lee & The Thunder Band, Natural Child, The Jonesbirds and Bipolaroid.

The innerkrewes of krewedelusion are: The Krewe of Goddesses, The AlKreweists, Amigos de los Amigos, The Camel Toe Lady Steppers, Krewe of Bananas, F.U.M.A., Krewe du Jieux, The Chicken Flockers, Voodoo Ballerina, Krewe of Zoo. The Bottom Feeders, Skinz & Bonez, Krewe du Muu-Muu and The Pony Girls!

Musicians performing in the parade include The Noisician Coalition, The Free Spirit Brass Band, The Panorama Brass Band, The Pinstripe Jr. Brass Band, DRUMCART, The Jean Hardy Brass Band and The United States Navy Marching Band.

The parade tax for members is now $50.00, and will go up after Groundhogs Day. Membership includes entry to The Night of Delusion, and for the first time, applications can be submitted and taxes can be paid electronically, at www.krewedelusion.org.

Under the auspices of a satirical carnival club, krewedelusion is a dictablanda that appoints a benevolent ruler, embraces transparency, and has a safeword.

Davis Rogan to Begin his Reign over krewedelusion, New Orleans, and Everything Else

New Orleans, LA – On February 17, 2011, krewedelusion, The Big Easy’s newest satirical parade, will coronate its second Ruler, Davis Rogan. A Press Conference shall be held after the Coronation.

Those members of the Press and of the Media who wish to attend should send a request to krewedelusion@gmail.com. Limited seating will be available to the Press and to the Media for the Coronation itself by special request.

“While the appropriate time and occasion are closely guarded secrets,” said Captain Oscar Diggs at a special meeting, “Davis Rogan shall become Delusion II, our Enlightened Despot & Captain of New Orleans! We shall parade him through the streets of the Center of the Universe.”

The parade route for Saturday, February 19, 2011, 7:15pm, will be released at the Coronation, and the current parade bands include The Pinstripe Jr. Brass Band, The Free Spirit Brass Band and DRUMCART!

The recent military dissolution of the Egyptian Parliament, and the revolutionary shockwave it sent throughout the entire region, had fueled krewedelusion Innerkrewe protestors in a variety of unusual ways. Due to a stunning collaboration led by two veteran Krewes— The AlKreweists, whose members came to New Orleans to help us and stayed, and Krewe du Coup, whose perpetual takeovers and makeovers exemplify sustainable leadership—The Bearded Oysters will dig in making things slicker, and the Krewe of Scorpios will begin a sting operation to reorient the zodiac for the next great cycle.

On February 19^th, 2011, the kickoff party begins at 4:00pm in the Mardi Gras Zone warehouse on Architect Street between Port and St. Ferdinand. The parade will roll down Royal Street, through the French Quarter, and disband at the Celebration of Grandeur at Vaso, 500 Frenchman Street.

Headlining that night is D.J. Rusty Laser & Cheeky Blakk, Debauche, with a Royal tableau at Midnight. The Celebration of Grandeur is open to the public at a cover charge of $10.00. Doors Open at 7:30pm

krewedelusion is a collection of old and new Innerkrewes gathered under what the Times Picayune described as, “a heady, self-made philosophy and governance that declare the Big Easy the center of the Universe. . . [and by giving their Ruler absolute power over absolutely Everything] . . . taking the time-honored conceit of Carnival royalty and following it to its most literal and absurd endpoint.”

Keeping its annual theme a secret until the start of their parade, krewedelusion is the root organization from which a myriad of small upstart and existing parading clubs have blossomed. “If you ever wanted to start your own satirical Krewe, this is the club to do it with,” said Captain Oscar Diggs. “In Episode One, before last year’s the elections, we planted the “Seeds of Revolution” and put Harry Shearer in charge of Everything; this year, in Episode Two, we’re going Deeper!”

The other week at krewedelusion’s special screening of Shearer’s “The Big Uneasy,” Le King-at-Large proclaimed, “I made one promise when I took the crown, that I would leave office before President Mubarak of Egypt left office. Hopefully I’m going to keep my pledge, and to turn the crown over at the appropriate time and on the appropriate occasion, to the next King of the Krewe: Davis Rogan.”

“In case you thought I was delusional, well, now it’s official,” the soon to become “Enlightened Despot & Captain of New Orleans” Davis Rogan, announced. Rogan, the infamous D.J. who plays a variety of roles in the creation of HBO’s new Tremé series, is preparing to release his new album, “The Real Davis” to coincide with the beginning of the second season of Tremé, just before JazzFest.

“While the appropriate time and occasion are closely guarded secrets,” said Captain Oscar Diggs at a special meeting, “Le King shall abdicate the Captaincy of New Orleans, stay at-large, and Davis Rogan shall become Delusion II, our Enlightened Despot & Captain of New Orleans!  We shall parade him through the streets of the Center of the Universe.” Parade bands include the Pinettes Brass Band, DRUMCART, and the Free Spirit Brass Band.

The recent military dissolution of the Egyptian Parliament, however, has ignited some krewedelusion Innerkrewe protestors to demand the immediate resignation of Le King-at-Large. The positions of the activists are hard to determine: Where The Noisician Coalition has been oddly silent on the matter, The 6t’9 Social Aid & Pleasure Club has a smoking grass roots movement going and The Mysick Krewe of Pataphysicians has rendered four completely different opinions, all of which are incomprehensible to the Krewe of White Devils, the Krewe of Bananas, The Camel Toe Lady Steppers, and the Pony Girls. With stereotypical panache, Krewe du Jieux has hired Krewe du Sue to get an injunction and look into procedural matters, and in the meantime, Amigos de los Amigos has increased security around krewedelusion’s newest Innerkrewes: The Pussyfooters, Krewe du Muu-Muu, The Krewe of Amzie, Krewe of Da Rat Paw, The Krewe of Two, and the revolutionary Krewe of Tourists.

New Mardi Gras Krewe has grand delusion

New Orleans, LA – On January 30, 2010, just days before an historic mayoral election, krewedelusion, The Big Easy’s newest satirical parade, will roll through the streets of the French Quarter.  The new krewe was formed with the mission to save the Universe, beginning at its center, New Orleans.  Its Captain, Oscar Diggs, announced today that Harry Shearer will be appointed to lead the festivities, the city of New Orleans, and everything else from here on in.

“Where most Krewes appoint royalty to govern the pomp and circumstance of parades and balls and most of our democratically elected leaders limit their administrations to similar fundraising endeavors,” said Krewe Captain Oscar Diggs, “krewedelusion intends to truly empower its leader to govern.  Govern everything.  Period.  Case closed.”

“I’m ready to rule” says “Le King-at-Large & Captain of New Orleans” Harry Shearer. In addition to preparing to rule the Universe, Shearer is currently preparing to direct “The Big Un-Easy”, a feature-length documentary film about why New Orleans flooded and why it may happen again.  ”Benevolent autocratic dementia is a form of government I can believe in,” stated Le King.

One such blossoming organization is composed of those new New Orleanians who came to help with our recovery process, fell in love with our city and stayed.  Dubbed “The AlKreweists,” these do-gooders will make their Carnival debut this year among many other fledgling groups such as the “Krewe of Bananas”.  Known entities rolling with krewedelusion include the Noisician Coalition’s Krewe of Joyful Noise, The 6t’9 Social Aid & Pleasure Club, Amigos de los Amigos, Krewe du Jieux, and The Pony Girls.  Parade bands include the Dirty Dozen Brass Band who has not hit the streets of New Orleans as a group since the funeral of Tuba Fats.

On January 30th, the kickoff party begins at 4:00pm in the lot behind Mardi Gras Zone on Architect Street between Port and St. Ferdinand.  The parade will roll down Royal Street, through the French Quarter, and disbands at the Celebration of Grandeur in the 2nd Floor Penthouse of The Maison (508 Frenchmen).  Headlining that night is D.J. Butterfoot and the Abney Effect with special guests including a Royal Tableau with Fleur de Tease at Midnight.  The Celebration of Grandeur is open to the public with a discount for costumed revelers.

Dues for krewedelusion are $40.00/member and $60.00/member the day of the parade up until 6:00pm.  Application are available on line and at Mardi Gras Zone.  Any and all profits shall be used at the discretion of Le King-at-Large & Captain of New Orleans to fulfill the mission of the krewe.  Costumes are required to be in the parade.
